The 2007 recipient of the annual Law Enforcement of the year was Colonel Steven M. Pare, retired superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police. He was honored for 26 year’s of honorable service to that organization, his effective leadership and loyal commitment to the people of Rhode Island and the members of his department. Colonel Pare rose up through the ranks of the Rhode Island State Police as a result of education, training and self development than has earned him the deserved respect of his peers and all of thre people of Rhode Island who he served well.
Colonal Pare's dedication to the community continues as his choice of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) was the recipient of the evenings silent auction donation proceeds.  Thank you Colonel.
Steve Pare has assumed a career with GTECH and has become an ASIS member and we all wish him the best.

The annual award (scholarship) given to students pursuing a career in public safety was formerly named the "Colonel Anthony J. Mancuso Public Safety Award" at the annual Providence Chapter Public Safety Law Enforcement Dinner on September 20, 2007. This award appropriately named for an individual who has dedicated over 40 yeas of his life to the service and protection of the citizens of Rhode Island. Col Mancuso served with the RI State Police for 20 years, rising to the rank of Lieutenant and director of the Intelligence Bureau. Upon retirement he was installed as the Chief of Police in the City of Providence. The first outside Policeman ever to assume that position. After 8 successful years he was asked to become the chief of the Attorney General's Drug task force. Later he was asked to assume the role of Worldwide Director of Security for Cookson Ltd, a global conglomerate that is headquartered in the UK. Later he joined RIBI Security as the Director of Special Projects and has served there until the present. Inasmuch as Tony is retiring early next year the membership felt that there was no more fitting name for this award. His accomplishments are too numerous to list. Suffice to say that he has been a dedicated, honest and humble servant, of whom all Rhode Islanders should be proud.  Thank you Sir.
