A message from Bob Johnson, Assistant Regional Vice President
June 26, 2008

As we prepare for the summer months and a break from our ASIS International meetings, I ask that you consider stepping up and volunteering for a Chapter position for 2009. Our Chapters are only as good as the members who take the lead, each year we look for new members to become part of the Board. The best way to gain the experience needed is to start with Secretary and move up the ranks, this prepares you for the time when you find yourself at the front of the meeting as Chairperson.
Over the last 7 years I have had the chance to hold many positions in my local chapter, as well as serving as Assistant Regional Vice President of Region 18, this has allowed me to work closely with the Boston and Providence Chapters. Through this position I can tell you ASIS International is alive and well, the meetings I have attended have been top notch, the speakers have delivered timely and valuable information to our members.
In recent years under the direction of Bruce Lewis our Regional Vice President we have held training programs bringing together Chapter officers from every chapter in the region. This has created a solid relationship between all of our members, not to mention the yearly Boston Expo where members from our entire region come together for a day of training and networking.
We need to continue to strive ahead with our Chapters; this new world of terrorism will not go away in our lifetime. We need to lead into the future, preparing our membership young and old for what we will all face. But this can only take place with your help, you need to follow in the foot steps of those who have stood at the front of the meetings and provided good Chapter meetings for you in the past.
Have a Great and safe summer, take time to enjoy your family and friends, I look forward to working with you all when we restart our efforts for the second half of the year.

Sincerely,

Robert Johnson
Assistant Regional Vice President
